Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm, with a 1 in 5 weekend on-call rota.
You’ll lead 2 Team Leaders and a team of engineers, providing technical direction while overseeing planned and reactive maintenance, compliance, projects, budgets and longer term asset planning. You’ll also work closely with the East Kent NHS Trust, clinical teams, contractors and other professional colleagues, so being able to communicate clearly and build effective working relationships is an important part of the role.
This is a key role where your technical knowledge and decision making will have a direct impact on the safety, reliability and day to day operation of our hospitals.

Your Responsibilities:
- Leading and supporting the Team Leaders and engineering team to deliver a safe, effective and compliant maintenance service.
- Overseeing planned preventative maintenance and ensuring remedial works are identified and completed.
- Managing repairs, projects and technical work across the relevant discipline, ensuring work is delivered effectively and in line with legislation.
- Monitoring and reporting against KPIs and SLAs, taking action where improvements are required.
- Providing technical advice and assurance to the Head of Estates and other stakeholders.
- Supporting longer term estate condition planning, asset management and investment decisions.
- Managing budgets, expenditure, procurement and delegated ordering responsibilities.
- Developing and maintaining technical procedures, risk assessments and permit-to-work systems.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant healthcare guidance, including HTMs, HBNs, building regulations and health and safety requirements.
- Using CAFM, BMS, PPM and other systems to manage workloads, monitor performance and produce reports.
- Developing the team through training, support and effective workforce planning.
- Working with clinical teams, contractors, architects and engineering consultants to resolve technical issues and deliver effective solutions.
- Taking part in the on-call manager rota and supporting emergency incidents and out-of-hours requirements when needed.

You’ll ideally have:

- A strong mechanical or electrical background, with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Experience of managing budgets and resources effectively.
- Good IT skills, including experience with CAD, BMS and PPM systems.
- Experience producing and interpreting reports and using performance information to drive improvements.
- The ability to explain technical issues clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience working with customers, clients, contractors and other stakeholders in a complex environment.
- Good knowledge of healthcare guidance, including HTMs, HBNs and relevant industry standards.
