Job Introduction

2gether is a Facilities Management company making a difference to over 2000 patients daily across multiple East Kent hospital sites. Our team provide vital services covering maintenance, cleaning, catering, procurement, logistics and much more.

We currently have opportunities at William Harvey Hospital (Ashford). This is a great opportunity for someone looking to kickstart their career in engineering and maintenance whilst also working towards a highly rewarding level 2 engineering operative qualification! At the end of your Level 2 qualification, there will be the opportunity to complete the Leve; 3 Engineering Operative course and develop into a Maintenance Assistant position. No two days are the same in this team, meaning the successful candidate will not only learn a lot but you will be experiencing and getting yourself up close to the exciting projects the team get involved in. 

The focus of the role will be the maintenance and repair of the mechanical plant and equipment that serve the hospital facilities and ensure it keeps running to deliver the high service our patients and staff have come to expect!

Main duties of the job

The focus of the role will be the maintenance and repair of the mechanical plant and equipment serving the hospital facilities including but not limited to:

  • Ventilating plant and associated equipment
  • Pumps and valves
  • Chilled water systems
  • Heating systems
  • Plumbing including drainage systems
  • Swimming pool plant and equipment
  • Chemical dosing systems
  • Medical gas systems- non specialist
  • Hand tools
  • Basic welding and brazing

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be driven to secure a role in Engineering
  • Be motivated to learn
  • Have a C/Level 4 or above in Maths and English at GCSE (if not, you will need to complete Functional Skills as part of the apprenticeship)
  • Have good communication skills

Successful candidates may need to travel to locations different to their normal ‘base’ location to complete activities relating to their Apprenticeship, so will need access to their own transport or be willing to use public transport.
